The Practice of Prayer
Over 70% of all Americans say they pray regularly. People pray for personal needs, family needs, the needs of others and of our world; they pray when they lose a loved one, at the end of a relationship, for healing and recovering, in gratitude for blessings received, and for so many more reasons. We all
recognize the need for prayer; sometimes we are actually moved to pray. But how does prayer become part of our daily life, our daily walk with God? How can we grow in our relationship with God through prayer?
Prayer is an essential practice of faith and tradition. Many of us long for a deeper life of prayer. Prayer may be a conversation with God; prayer may also be activity that permeates all of one’s life. When we live prayerfully we may begin to develop a worldview that understands our daily lives as an extension of our communal worship.
